Women in Media

As scientists study the underrepresentation of women in the workplace, we know less than a third of the digital marketing workforce is female. The gender bias within the industry has led to female positions being undervalued by 21% compared to their male peers. This gender-imbalanced fact of society has reinforced and perpetuated harmful gender stereotypes against women in media making it harder to bridge the gender divide.

Women leaders have used digital media to stand out and demonstrate their knowledge and capabilities throughout the years, despite this underrepresentation. In 2003, Valerie Haweny, co-founder of Entech Networks, developed Entech’s digital media division where she has sourced top talent in the areas of SEM, SEO, Digital Media Planning & Buying, Analytics, Client Services, Project Management and Business Development. Bringing over 20 years of subject matter expertise to multiple sectors of the industry, Valerie uses her strategic abilities, drawing on experience and education to develop plans that help clients reach their goals. Furthermore, it should be noted that Entech, since its inception in 1999, is a certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE/WOSB).
